There are only 700 licensed foster homes in Pima County – and many of these are   “kinship” homes, which means there are becoming licensed to take relatives and may not be available to take in additional foster children. [spacer]

Out of those 3400 children, 600 kids are in congregate care – group homes, shelters, or residential treatment facilities. [spacer]

The math is pretty simple: there aren’t enough foster homes to accommodate all the foster children in care. And these are just PIMA COUNTY statistics!!! There are over 10,000 children in foster care in the entire state of Arizona.
